Dear Families,
We are so happy to share that we received the Community Facility Enhancement Project Grant to begin construction on the Outdoor Learning Space this spring! Thanks to the Government of Alberta/Community Facility Enhancement Program for approving our application. We are also grateful to the school councils of both Valley View School and Ian Bazalgette School for providing matching funds to the grant.
Over the past 2 years, we have engaged students at Valley View School and Ian Bazalgette School, in collaboration with Elder John Snow, to explore ideas and co-create a prototype plan for an outdoor learning space using a design thinking process. This space is designed to help us: learn about local plants, animals, and natural features; share teachings from Elders and Knowledge Keepers; honor the cultural significance and history of the land; offer an additional space for teaching and learning in an outdoor setting; creating a welcoming space for learning, reflection, and connection with the land and each other; and learning on the land and from the land through hands-on experiences and teachings. We look forward to sharing the final design with you soon!
Grade 6 YMCA Camp Chief Hector Mandatory Parent Meeting January 22nd, 2026
There will be a mandatory parent meeting for all grade 6 families on Thursday February 22nd at 6:00 p.m. offered in the school gym and through Microsoft Teams. All parents must attend this important meeting to learn more about the camp and get specific details about activities, meals, groupings and packing list. Please contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions.
Valley View SuperKids Society Fundraiser for Grade 6 Camp Chief Hector
The Parent Council is excited to be hosting two spring fundraisers, one in March and one in April. Both of these will support all of our Grade 6 students for Camp Chief Hector! Families can enjoy a delicious Coco Brooks take-home-and-bake pizza and treat themselves to crowd-favorite Texas Donuts (around the size of a dinner plate). The Coco Brooks items are pre-made and pre-FROZEN. We will have 2 different pick up locations for your convenience, both on the same day/evening. Details will follow at a later date. The Texas Donuts will be individually boxed. This way students who take the bus can take these home without causing a mess for your bus driver. These tasty fundraisers are an easy (and yummy!) way to support an unforgettable experience for our Grade 6 students.
Healthy Hunger
Healthy Hunger orders are still being processed. Please remember if you plan to order a fun lunch, to put your order in before January 21st.
